Time: After filming/late afternoon

Today we finished filming. before the girls left I transported all of the footage to my computer. We were able to look over all the footage we took.

Time: Night

I just got off of work, were I spent my whole day. I decided to get on my computer a look at my footage tonight. I wrote a list of the file names of the shots I was going to use in my final project. This will just make things easier for me tomorrow when I begin editing.

Time: Late afternoon/ 5:30

Today I didn't get started on working on editing until 2:00pm. I wish I had an earlier start, but my family goes to church every Sunday. Editing is harder than I expected to be.

I was able to add all of my clips together and cut them exactly how I wanted for the scenes to flow. However, they didn't flow... the transitions between the shots were too blunt. I messed around with the transition choices, and decided in crossfade. It makes the flow between shots look more natural.

Also after I finished editing all the shots together, my final project is over two minutes. I'm stressed because if I cut down to two minutes I might take away a lot of what I wanted to be in my final cut. I know I can cut some of the shots, but I feel majority of my shots are necessary. I will upload this final product in a blog post and then will edit it to be smaller for the final cut.

For the takes of the reverse zoom I chose the first one of all eight takes. It might be little choppy, but it has the best quality out of all the takes. Also the last few takes it is very visible that it was starting to rain on us.

The audio was giving me problems and I was beginning to get more stressed out. So, I decided I should call it a night and pick up on editing tomorrow. This week I also have to start on my CCR script and filming.

Time: Night/ 7:30

Today I had a late start to editing. I was pushing off all of my work and didn't have the motivation to do anything. However, I told myself if I get editing done today I will be able to move on to my CCR which will take up quite a lot of my time this week. I still have to finish writing the script for it as well as film and edit it. Right now it is looking like I'll have 31 blog post total.

Anyways, today I finished editing my final cut. I put all the clips I wanted to use together last night, but it ended being three minutes. A whole minute more than what I'm supposed to have. So after cutting down the time the establishing shots were taking up and speeding up the shots where there is no dialogue I was able to cut down to exactly two minutes. I was so proud of myself!!!!!

I was struggling big time with adding audio to my final cut on my computer. So, to speed things up I transported my final cut to my phone. Her was when I used iMovie to make the sound editing process so much easier. Here I was able to add the recorded dialogue from the kitchen scene, for the scene I of the girls talking I kept the audio from the camera because the recorded audio wasn't good. I added diegetic sounds to all of the scenes where there was no music. I also added "Just a Girl" by No Doubt to most of the scenes. This is because usually opening sequences to film include a music of some type. The music is also considered diegetic in my final cut because she is listening to the song in her headphones she puts in at the beginning. I will discuss more about the sound editing and why I chose specific sounds in my sound blog post.

I was able to post my final cut tonight and I will start working on my CCR tomorrow.
