#6- I LOVE Greta Gerwig

Image
Greta Gerwig was born on August 4th, 1983 in Sacramento, California. She is the child of Gordon and Christine Gerwig. Little did they know she would become a very incredible  actress, playwright, screenwriter, and director. She is very well known for her significant impact on the film industry with her beautiful storytelling and relatable characters. In her younger years she took part in theatre productions at Saint Francis High School, which was an all-girls Roman Catholic high school. Then she continued her education at Barnard College where she graduated with a degree in English and Philosophy. On the performance end of things, throughout college she preformed in the Columbia University Varsity show with her old dorm roommate and now close friend, Kate McKinnon. Kate went on to star in Saturday Night Life and has a role in Greta's newest movie "Barbie." Greta Gerwig has always had a great relationship with woman and love the complexity that makes women who th...

#5- Films Using The Themes in my Final Project

Image
Coming of Age: Featured is a still from the movie "Now and Then" by Lesli Linka Latter. This movie has always been a favorite of mine, even though it's a lesser known movie. This movie is about a group of four women looking back on the eventful year that was when they were twelve. This movie shows the situations they each were dealing with and how they were discovering who they are in the world . This film also covers the topic of being a young girl in the 70s. This can also leak over to human relationships, because each film can cover different themes. The movie shows these very different girls and their relationships with each other.  Human Relationships: Featured is a still from the movie "Perks of Being a Wallflower" by Stephen Chbosky. This movie shows many different human relationships the main character, Charlie, experiences. Throughout the movie Charlie gets a better understanding of relationships, due to his lack of understanding from boundaries create...

#4- Lets Talk About Themes

Image
Some people may confuse genre and theme. However, the theme is the concept the storyteller is trying to tell. Many different types of media, such as films and literature, themes. To break it down, the theme of movie is the recurring message the that filmmaker explores throughout the movie duration, it also goes for TV shows. The theme helps communicate meaning, evoke the audiences emotions, and connect with the audience on a personal level. The theme or themes of a story add depths and create a more captivating movie that allows audiences to have an enjoyable movie experience.    Every genre has different themes they can portray, and also to keep in mind not every story is limited to one theme. A movie could have many themes, but there is usually one main underlying theme. The themes I want to incorporate into my film are coming of age, human relationships, and teen experience.    Coming of age is a story that tells the journey of the main character grow...

#3- Dramedy Analysis

Image
Drama is usually a fictional narrative that follows real-life scenarios that hold a serious tone. However, during my research, I have realized that the drama genre is like an umbrella. The title "drama" is the top of the umbrella, but there are sub-genres under that. Some examples are historical drama, soap opera, political drama, teen drama and comedy drama. Taking that into account my final project would be considered a comedy drama. In a future blog, I'll go more into depth about the themes involving my narrative about a teenager. This is because my main focus for this project is to make it serious and relatable to my specific audience. So, comedy won't be considered a genre of my final project because I don't want it to be a main part of my project. The comedy will be subtle to bring light to the serious tone. One film that inspired this idea is Greta Gerwig's " Barbie. " This film discusses serious topics such as gender inequality and girlhoo...

#1- Final Project Idea

Image
Hello, welcome to my first blog post for my AICE Media Studies final project. I have only had a short time to brainstorm my idea for my final project because I have to be reassessed on my AICE Media Studies knowledge because I'm taking A level Media Studies two years later. However, the brainstorming process has been good. The genres that I will incorporate in my final project are comedy and drama with a little bit of romance. The themes of my film will be coming of age, edgy teenage years, and the end of childhood. These different aspects with a female teenager lead will make this relatable to specific audience. This audience being younger and older woman that have been through girlhood. It is important to make your film relatable, so you can have the a powerful impact of the audience and make them feel empathy towards the narrative you are sharing.    Being a creative person is not enough to create a great story. To perfect my story I'm trying to tell I will nee...
