#10- Ladybird (2017)

This film written and directed by Greta Gerwig and starring Saoirse Ronan is one of my favorite films of all time. This film does a perfect job at balancing serious situations within youth and the humorous parts as well. It discusses high school, friendships, boys, complex mother-daughter relationships, college, and the bittersweetness of leaving home.

The film follows the coming-of-age story of Christine "Lady Bird" McPherson and her senior years. She is trying to figure out who she is and what she wants for her life. Greta Gerwig did an amazing job at making a heartful and relatable story about adolescence.

I personally love the character Lady Bird so much, she is so relatable to me and other teen girls around the world. I'm currently a senior in high school and I'm navigating what I want my future to look like as well as my relationship between friends and family. The mix of doing research on different adolescence coming-of-age characters and my own experience will help me create relatable characters.

I think I've decided that I want to add a scene with my main character and her mother. Where she is leaving her house to walk to school and she is picking what she wants to eat for breakfast. Her mother will make a comment about her choice and she will make a tense response or leave the room upset. I haven't wrote that part of my script yet and if I go over the time limit I will cut this scene from the final project.
