#21- Scripting/Storyboard Process
I believe the scripting and storyboard process is a part of the project that I didn't execute perfect. I originally planned on getting these done at the beginning of the project, so I had it prepared for my actors and the days of filming. However, I didn't get my storyboard and script done until last minute.
I completed my storyboard first, on September 17 before my family sat down for dinner. It was very last minute and quick, and I will state that I'm definitely not an artist with a pen/pencil. I just wanted a layout of exactly what I want to shot for my final cut. I found the idea of using sticky notes for my drawing from a TikTok of a storyboard for a cartoon. It just looks nicer than a black sheet with words. The lines of the notebook page made it look more put together. The use of pink sticky notes also goes with the theme of the pink colors of my project.
I had ideas for my script the whole process of this project, but I didn't officially finish writing it until the day of my second day of filming. I did it so last minute, which is a stressful process trying to quickly finish it before filming, so my actors knew what to say. I wasn't able to give the script before hand for them to go over their lines which showed when we were trying to film the long scene that was dialogue heavy. I know now that next time I have to write a script I should begin it early in the filmmaking process. For script writing I wrote all of my ideas on a blank notebook paper, but used the site DuetWriter to write the final script. The site gives you the format of how to write a script, including where to put character names, dialogue, shot directions, transitions, etc.
(the girls re-reading the script, because they weren't given the option to memorize their lines)
These processes is where I struggled with stress the most because I was very last minute on my storyboard and script. When it comes to my A-Level project I will focus on completing my storyboard and script earlier in the filmmaking process. After I complete my editing and publish my final cut I believe it will be a little different than my storyboard and script, because I filmed different angles that I didn't have in them. Those were all on location creative decisions to better the narrative.
