#29- Social Media (Advertisement Part Two)
Other than posters there is a whole other world of advertising. It is the year of 2023 and everyone has a phone or computer. Social media is popping, videos on TikTok are getting billions of views and Instagram post are getting millions of likes. So many people are using social media! This leads to the conclusion that social media is the best place to advertise media, such as films.
Instagram has way over two billion users that are consuming media everyday through post. Many actors/actresses, directors and film companies have Instagram accounts. They use their Instagram accounts to assemble a bigger audience, their post will be able to reach millions of people. Younger audiences that aren't walking around and seeing posters will be able to be exposed to different medias through social media. Instagram also allows audiences to interact with the post, they can like and comment to give feedback on the media.
Zendaya using Instagram to post a trailer of Challengers, a movie that is releasing soon in which she stars in- this post has over 6 million likes and over 43 thousand likes.
Florence Pugh using Instagram to post about the Oppenheimer premiere to bring in people to watch the movie. She discusses how important the movie is and conveys audiences to watch it. The post has over 1 million likes and 1,401 comments. This reached less of an audience than Zendaya because Zendaya is more popular in the film industry.
TikTok is another social media app/site that people can use to consume A LOT of media. TikTok has videos about global news, movie/film news and videos of people getting ready for their days. TikTok has a crazy wide range of topics discussed on it with a billion users. The TikTok for you page is very niche to each user on the app, and can introduce a wide amount of people to different media. Production companies, directors and actors/actresses have TikTok accounts to support their new media. However, that is no the only people bringing in audiences to movies on TikTok. TikTok has many users that post scenes and edits of new release movies that is helping build a bigger audience for them.
Here is an example of a user on TikTok that made an edit for the film Lady Bird. People who have seen the movie will be able to comment about their feedback on the film and the viewers who have not seen it will see the edit and comments and will want to watch film.
Here's an example of streaming company posting a scene from a movie they have featured on their site. Netflix posted a scene from the fil "Love at First Sight" to bring in viewers for the film and more money for the company.
Addison Rae using her TikTok account to promote a new horror movie she is in that is releasing November 17th. She will be able to reach her mass amount of followers and other horror enjoyers on TikTok to convey them to want to watch this movie when it is released.
If I were to advertise my film "Who She Is" on social media I would defiantly use these two platforms. They will able to bring in a major audience and will reach a lot of young people. This is good because my main audience is young girls. They will be able to relate to the coming-of-age story and the awkwardness of adolescence. The comedy will be able to bring in a bigger audience as well.
On Instagram, one of my actors (Karah Little) can post the trailer on her account or a picture of the poster on her Instagram story. As well as another actor (Reese Gardner) can post the trailer as well. Both actors will be able to bring in their followers.
On TikTok, the director (me) can post a trailer or behind the scenes clips to bring in viewers. The production company can also post on TikTok a humorous clip of the movie. Last example, a user on TikTok can create an edit of the trailer or an edit of scenes after the movie is released. All of this will be able to bring a wide audience to the movie.
