#9- Perk Of Being a Wallflower (2012)

I first watched this film a few years ago, and know watching it again I would defiantly recommend it to any teenager. The movie explores themes of relationships and self-discovery. These two themes are very prominent and important when creating a coming-of-age drama. These themes and how characters react and interact makes the film relatable to young audiences.

The story follows Charlie, who is a socially awkward teenager who has had a sad childhood, on his new adventure that is high school. He is dealing with personal issues and the relationships in his life as well as the new ones he's introduced to. He meets Sam and Patrick who are outgoing people, completely different than Charlie. He begins to navigate relationships with them, and they soon begin to change Charlie and help him on his self-discovery journey. The whole point of coming-of-age and growing up is changing a becoming more yourself.

The film captures the highs and lows of growing up, the actors of all the characters give a perfect performance that portrays adolescence and all that comes with it.

The film has helped me write my script and how I should have my characters interact with each other. The teen conversations I want to add in my script are about school, the upcoming football game, boys and maybe have the main character discuss her mom. Perks of Being a Wallflower doesn't have a prominent humorous tone to the film, but I will be able to add humor in my film through dialogue and camera movements.
